19s lose out in final

Posted on Sunday, May 27th, 2012

Craigroyston ended up just too strong for us in today’s Jimmy Lynch Memorial Cup Final. It was a fairly uneventful first half with very few chances for either team. The game began to open up and the best chance fell to Lee Brown in the 63rd minute who latched onto a Jordan Finnie pass and struck a powerful effort but it was straight at the ‘keeper. Craigroyston then went straight up the pitch and scored with a tidy finish. We began to have more of the ball but the sweltering conditions were taking their toil on both teams. Craigroyston then scored in the 90th minute as we pushed forward, and again in the 93rd minute. They did have a player sent off for a second yellow card in the remaining seconds.
We’ve had a very good season with a young squad. Seven of our 17s have been signed up for next season to augment the squad. Many thanks to Chris, Keith, Gary and Dougie who have worked very hard throughout the season, well done.
