Cloudie double leads us to King Cup Final

Posted on Wednesday, May 9th, 2012

The Seniors are into the final of the King Cup following an entertaining 2-0 victory over rivals Whitehill Welfare.

Following an end to end opening half we managed to score the opener in the 42nd minute with our first shot on goal. A Dean Hoskins freekick was only half saved by the Whitehill keeper and the ball fell the Keith McLeod who fired home. Having picked up a yellow card early in the game, Dean Hoskins was subbed for Donal Henretty just before half time, as concerns were growing about him receiving a 2nd yellow.

The second half was another tense encounter. Chris Flockhart pulled off a string of excellent saves while Jordan Finnie headed clear off the line as Whitehill piled on the pressure.

As we approached what looked to be a nervy final 10 minutes Omar Kader played a neat pass into Keith McLeod who rounded the keeper and fired home.

Wayne MacIntosh was shown a straight red for an elbow on Donal Henretty as Whitehill fell away and we held on for our place in the final.

Malt & Hops Man of the Match: Chris Flockhart, made a couple of excellent saves however his handling was superb all evening.
