Management thoughts on Lothian tomorrow

Mike says -

“How will we cope with our first game in 3 weeks? How will we cope with our first game on grass for over 4 months? How will we cope with a team who’ll still be smarting over a soft sending off and gallant performance which produced an undeserved 4-3 defeat last time the 2 teams met at Saughton? How will we cope with a team buoyed by a great 7 goal display against a determined Eyemouth side last Saturday? Come down to Saughton Enclosure tomorrow and find out.

Sam and I took in the Lothian game last Saturday and we were impressed; more than impressed. We played Eyemouth a few weeks back and found them difficult opponents and they started well at the Enclosure. Once Joe Murray had twisted and turned in the box before scoring his first then quickly followed it up with an unstoppable free-kick the writing was on the wall. A third and his hat-trick before half-time and the game was almost over as a contest. Yes, the home side looked impressive and will be well up for it tomorrow.

We didn’t look impressive against our Junior side on Tuesday and I’ll save my thoughts on our 3-2 defeat until my team talk when I normally go over points from our last game. Sam and I are hoping the players know what’s at stake and despite our points advantage they realise Stirling especially will have a lot to say in where the league title will end up. Kerr Dodds now may need a small operation which is a blow but on the plus side everyone else is fit and available.

Sam and I will pick a team based on the way we intend to play and that could be decided by the condition of the pitch which has been very bumpy the last twice we’ve played there. It hasn’t stopped the home side from looking mightily impressive on it and we’ll remind out lot of that before the game. Whatever happens it’s good to be back playing football.”
