Management thoughts on our defeat to the Hibs youngsters

“A good exercise and a chance to see some of our younger and not so young players get a run out. Dean Hoskins has just returned from an all inclusive week in the Canary Islands and we didn’t expect him to last 90 minutes. John Grant was ill all last week and we were delighted with his performance and to see him last 90 minutes. Chris Anderson got a full game albeit mostly in midfield where we were left short (Chris Milligan’s van broke down on the M8) and Dr Jonathan Seeley also got a full game under his belt. That’s our more experienced guys who needed game time.

We also got the chance to see some of our younger players for a bit longer than usual. Sam and I were well aware of Sean Wringe last year and thought a season playing regularly for Alex was better than being on the bench for us. He has done well for the Juniors and showed all he has to offer last night. Jordan Finnie is already the finished article as far as playing the game goes and last night will have shown him the fitness levels needed to play at a higher level.

Apart from a 5 minute spell in the second half I thought we matched a well drilled Hibs outfit. Their superior fitness levels told after the break but there was a lot of positives for Sam and I to take out of the game. The highlight for me was the cross field run and delightful reverse ball from Donnelly to put Jordan Finnie through. Had his chip gone in to put us 2 goals up rather than come back off the post it might have been a different story.

A good night for a game of football on an excellent surface and good entertainment for the fans.”
