New pitch opens for action

Posted on Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Our new synthetic pitch opened for action on Tuesday night for training. The Seniors and Juniors were first in action. There has been some great feedback already and it will get better over the next few days as it gets played on and the daily maintenance regime kicks in. The UEFA testing is done in a couple of weeks to enable us to comply with the SFA licencing criteria. Despite the August and early September weather the pitch was only a couple of days behind the original schedule and it came in on budget, well done to everyone involved in the project.
The first competitive game on it is our Seniors league game on Saturday against Tynecastle. We’re looking forward to a big crowd, the work is still ongoing on our two new bankings (North and West “enclosures”) which will be closed but there will still be capacity for over 1500, if required!! The ko is 3pm with the Juniors league clash with Edinburgh United kicking off on the FieldTurf pitch at 2,30. Many thanks to Tynecastle for agreeing to the slightly later ko time.
