Spartans hit high five at Gretna

The Seniors produced an impressive performance to win 5-1 at Raydale Park this afternoon against Gretna in the Premier Division.

Following an even start on a very wet surface we started to take control of the game. Scott Fusco opened the scoring after 18 minutes when he vollied home the opened from a Dean Hoskins corner.

Jack Beesley doubled the lead after 25 minutes when he fired home a Chris Anderson cross from just 2 yards.

Gretna were reduced to 10 men in the 30th minute when one of their defenders was shown his second yellow afternoon and a red which made the task even harder for the home side. In fact Gretna were reduced to nine men shortly after when one of their players left the field for some lengthy treatment.

We took full advantage of the two extra  men and in the 38th minute we were further infront when Gavin Malin scored following an Omar Kader pass and just a minute later in the 39th minute we made it four when Dead Hoskins fired home a Jack Beesley cut back.

Into the second half and it was a more even encounter. Gretna pulled one back just a few minutes after the break with an impressive finish from 25 yards out.

We completed the scoring for the afternoon though in the 70th minute when Donal Henretty scored following a great run from Kevin Sivewright.
