Seniors lose out at Easthouses

Posted on Saturday, August 13th, 2011

The Seniors lost out to Easthouses Lily today following a frustrating ninety minutes in Midlothian. With all the rain this week the pitch was very wet and with the grass beign very long it didn’t allow either side to play the nice flowing football both sides attempted to play.

Following an even opening 10 minutes we got into the game more. On 15 minutes, Kerr Dodds was clearly barged over in the box for what looked like a stonewall penalty. The Spartan’s bench couldn’t quite believe it when the referee waved play on!

We did eventually open the scoring in the 26th Minute. A ball over the defence allowed Omar through on goal. The Easthouses keeper was out quick and managed to get contact on the ball however it bounced away and allowed Omar to square the ball to Chris Anderson who fired home his first competitive goal for the club.

Just 6 minutes later and Easthouses pulled level. A cross from the left wasn’t clear properly and it allowed Stuppart to head the home side level.

Another 6 mintes after that and the ever dangerous Kyle Boggie put the Lillies in front. A long ball over the top caught the Spartans defence napping and allowed Boggie to fire home to take the lead.

We started much better after the break and it took just 3 minutes for Scott Fusco to pull us level, his third goal in three games so far this season.

Donal Henretty and Jack Beesley both had excellent chances to give us the lead, however with just a few minutes left on the clock a ball from the Easthouses Midfield found Kyle Boggie several yards offside, the flag stayed down however much to the anger of the Spartans bench and Boggie was able to use his yard advantages to make speace for then pass to one of the Easthouses subs to fire home the winner.

As we push forward looking for a winner, Boggie could have scored again as he was put through one on one with Flockhart following a Sivewright mistake however the Spartans keeper did well to block his shot.

Malt & Hops MOTM: Kerr Dodds for a hard working performance in midfield. He battled hard to create chances against a very stubborn and hard working Easthouses defence.

Team: Flockhart, Fusco, Hoskins, Sivewright, Seeley, Dodds, Kader, Manson, Anderson, Beesley, Henretty Unused: R Smith, Sinclair, Finnie, McKinnon
