In league cup action the Seniors drew 2 – 2 with Vale of Leithern while the Juniors beat Edinburgh Utd 2 – 1.
The Seniors played superbly well in the first half at Innerleithen. After ten minutes Donal Henretty was tripped in the box but Chris Anderson’s penalty was saved well by ‘keeper Wilson. It was one way trafiic and Jack Beesley turned well on the edge of the box after a Chris cross and drilled the ball home. Ten minutes later it was two when Scott Fusco hammered home a free kick from 25 yards. The second half started with the same pattern and Garry Bannon nearly scored at the back post from a donal cross but all was to change in the 65th minute when Scott was adjudged to have brought down the Vale striker. It looked a very soft award which cost Scott a yellow card. Scott Devlin scored from the spot and five minutes level it was all square when an Anderson cross was turned into his own net by Scott. Vale looked more likely to score in the dying minutes and Chris Flockhart had to pull off the save of the day to gain us a point before Robbie Manson picked up a late yellow card. Kerr Dodds won the Spartans Malt and Hops man of the match for a great midfield performance. Team: Flockhart, Fusco, McKinnon, Henretty, Seeley, Bannon (Mcleod 82), Dodds, Manson, Henretty (R Smith 64), Anderson, Beesley Subs not used: McTurk, Finnie, Sinclair
Paul Roberts was the Juniors goalscoring hero with a brace. We went ahead but United pulled one back just before half time. We took the lead midway through the seond half and played well.
