League Cup win secures historic Grand Slam of Trophies

In an exciting game at Pennypitt we lifted the League Cup with a 4 – 2 win over Edinburgh University.

The Uni started the game on top and it was no surprise when they took the lead. Jack Beacher scoring after a great turn.

The goal seemed to wake us up and five minutes later we were ahead against the run of play. A long throw from Chris Townsley was flicked on by Donal Henretty and Omar Kader nodded the ball home. Omar then scored his second from close range after great build up play involving Gavin Malin, Dean Hoskins and Donal.

Playing down the hill in the second half we looked much stronger. The third goal was a carbon copy of the first, a Chris long throw nodded on by Donal and headed home by Omar for his hat trick.

Omar then ran through on goal but was tripped by Mark Cathcart. Mark was sent off and Gavin drove home the spot kick with his usual panache.

Jack Beacher pulled one back with five minutes left after another great piece of skill. A great save by Chris Flockhart avoided a grandstand finish.

Omar won the Malt and Hops man of the match, a great hat trick and a hard working performance.

Team: Flockhart, O’Donnell, Sivewright, Townsley, Archibald, Malin, Manson, Henretty (McLeod 64), Kader (Sinclair), Fowlie (Finnie 85) Hoskins Subs not used: Beesley, McGarrie

A fantastic season for the Seniors, the first time ever in EoS football that one team has taken all the domestic honours. Congratulations to all the playing and coaching staff, well done.

Our Under 16s who were also in cup final action tonight unfortunately lost 2 – 0 to Leith Athletic.
