Juniors win but Amateurs lose top of table clash

Posted on Saturday, April 30th, 2011

The Juniors bounced back to winning ways with a 4 – 1 win over Pumpherston. We took the lead in the first minute after a great move down the left and when Rees Smith pulled the ball back Adam Perry knocked it home. We were on top and scored a second after 20 minutes. Adam was through on goal before being tripped. Surprisingly no card was shown, Nick Reid knocking home the penalty. It wasn’t his best effort but had just enough power to get under the ‘keeper. Pumpherston pulled one back a minute later with a good drive from the edge of the box and put us under a bit of pressure for ten minutes. Our third did come just before the break, Adam picking up on a slack back pass to round the ‘keeper and knock the ball home. With the wind in our favour we controlled the second half. Adam completing his hat trick midway through the half after good work from George Nikolaudis. Andy Laidlaw, Neil Ewart and Nick all came close to adding a fifth. Team: Paterek, Hair, Waddell, Ewart, Cruickshank, Bannon, Reid, Smith, Shave (Laidlaw 65), Perry (Cameron 78), Nikolaudis
The Amateurs lost 1 – 0 to Edinburgh South Vics to put a big dent in our promotion hopes. With one game left it looks like we will finish third.
