Seniors win but Juniors and Ammies go down

Posted on Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

The Seniors welcomed back Keith Mcleod and Omar Kader to the starting line up, with Gavin Malin skipper in his 100th Seniors game. It took only six minutes for us to go ahead. A good run by Omar, a clever dummy from Gavin and Keith stroked the ball home from the edge of the box. The heavy rain on a firm pitch made it tricky and Whitehill equalised five minutes later when ‘keeper Bejaoui took a free kick from inside his own half, it bounced high on the 18 yd line and flew over Chris Flockhart in goal. Within five minutes were were again ahead when a clever Jack Beesley cross was parried by the ‘keeper and Omar knocked the ball into the net. Jack was again the creator for the third when his corner was headed in by Robbie Manson. Whitehill pulled one back early in the second half when Allum scored from close range. We continued to dominate possession however and Ross Archibald rocketed home a fourth before a superb Dean Hoskins free kick made it five. There was also a good run out also for debutant Sean Wringe from the 19s. Robbie Manson picking up the Malt and Hops man of the match. Team: Flockhart, O’Donnell, Sivewright, Townsley, Hoskins, Manson, Malin (Finnie 76), Kader, McLeod (Wringe 76), Beesley (Smith 65), Archibald Sub not used: Fowlie
The Juniors were only a goal down at half time to Dalkeith in an even first half but ended up losing 4 – 1 with George Nikolaudis scoring. The Amateurs had a disappointing afternoon, going 6 – 1 behind before coming back to lost 6 – 5.
