Management thoughts on our City Cup loss.

Mike says –

“Our first half performance tonight was as good as anything we have shown this season and only having scored the one goal before the interval proved our downfall. As good as we were Berwick were poor in the first half but with the help of fresh legs they improved dramatically after the break.  Still we held out until 15 to go and the home team equalised with us down to 10 men. We  were unable to replace the injured Deano with Chris Smith as the ball stayed in play for several minutes after our wide left player rolled off the park in the top corner in some discomfort. The winner was a screamer but a good few of our players were playing on empty by then. Good as Berwick were in the second half the obvious physical and mental fatigue a hard 5 or 6 weeks can bring began to show in several of our players.

David made the bench but felt his knee in the warm up so with Cloudie suspended, Omar and Dr  Jon unavailable and Wee Eck in a plaster we only had three outfield youngsters to call on and Smudger, Jordan and Sinky all got a run out near the end. We have no complaints over the final result, were proud of our first half display and will now literally lick our wounds and count the heads before Rosewell on Saturday.

Well done Berwick and hold your heads up our boys – you did us proud.”
