Management thoughts on the City Cup Final.Mike says –“We travel down to Berwick tomorrow for the City Cup Final and for a change from the norm this season we’ll go there as the underdogs. Fresh from a very good 3-2 win at Annan Jimmy Crease has the dilemma of going with his strongest team or blooding some of his youngsters. I had the same problem way back as manager of Meadowbank but like me back then Jimmy and Yano with pick a team to win a game of football. For our part we seem to be going from one very important game to another. Normally we would have felt the build up to such an important game but currently we seem to be going two or three days from a league decider to a cup semi final to a final and so on not that we’re complaining. Keith McLeod is suspended tomorrow, Omar Kader unavailable and Alex King is in crutches. Donal Henretty is back in contention and David Etale is fit to join a squad which includes Jordan Finnie and Andrew Sinclair from our Under 19’s. With 5 not quite irrelevant but surplus league games to play we intend to start these two boys and one or two others as we try to keep some of our stalwarts as fresh as possible for our assault on the Cups remaining. Back to tomorrow and Danny O’Donnell will lead the team out in what is his 250th game for the club. Let’s hope he’s a lucky captain.” Mike |
