Management thoughts on a good cup win.Mike says –“First of all hats off to Easthouses for the improvements at Newbattle. The perimeter fence is a big improvement and when they get their “hoped for” new changing rooms within the boundaries of the park they will be better than most at our level. As for the game Donal Henretty and Alex King were borderline fit and we decided not to chance them. Gavin Malin needed a rest and Keith McLeod was suspended which meant two or three changes. As I’ve said a good few times before we have 15 quality players plus youth and the experience of Dr Jono to call on when needed. Yesterday Stewart Fowlie and Danny O’Donnell came in at fullback allowing Ross Archibald and Dean Hoskins to move forward. Danny misses Wednesday and Sam will have a hard job persuading Archie to drop back to fullback. Jonathan Seeley, Chris Smith and Jordan Finnie all got a good run out in the second half and over the piece the team played well and created a lot of chances. Archie may have got the MOM for a hat-trick of headers but I thought Jack Beesley was the best player on show yesterday. Like Gavin Malin his favoured position is central in a midfield 4 but such is the consistency and quality Alex King and Robbie Manson give us in the engine-room neither get much of a chance to play where they’d like. Jack did very well yesterday. I now head to Spain for a few days but I’ll preview the game at Rosewell from over there on Tuesday or Wednesday morning.” Mike |
