Management thoughts about our trip to Easthouses tomorrowMike says –“As the dust settled on our defeat at the hands of Whitehill on Tuesday we cleared the air a bit before going out last night then walked through defensive corners during training. Tomorrow Sam and I will be preaching two things to the players – belief and enjoyment. We’ve had a great run and the players must remember the ability and effort they have shown in equal measures to go undefeated for so long. The last two or three games coming on top of each other have been hard physical affairs and the smiles seem to have replaced by frowns on the players faces. Oh! to be in their boots and playing football on a Saturday afternoon. They don’t know how lucky they are and along with every player playing at such a good level of football they should show that in their demeanour during the game. We want our boys to look like they are enjoying themselves. Easthouses will have something to say about that of course. Although near the top of the first division it looks like Gretna and Leith will be stepping up come August. Once again the First Division has proved a very competitive league and the Lily like ourselves will have found out there are very few easy games in East of Scotland football. Spartans have never had it easy out at Newbattle and we expect a hard examination of our skills tomorrow. Keith McLeod is suspended and both Donal Henretty and Alex King are doubtful. Gavin Malin followed the Whitehill game with a trip to Wales with Scottish Universities this midweek and we may save his legs for Rosewell next Wednesday. Omar Kader is up from London, available and will come into the team along with Stewart Fowlie and David Etale. We are all looking forward to getting Tuesday night out of our systems.” Mike |
