Juniors go down but Amateurs record another win

Posted on Saturday, March 26th, 2011

The Juniors went down 2 – 0 to Dunbar Utd in a league game.  Dunbar started brightly and took the lead when Jones headed home.  we then came into the game and should have at least equalised before half time.  Paul Roberts brought out a remarkable close range save from their ‘keeper and then Neil Ewart had a close range header cleared of the line.

Scott Livingston had to go off at half time with a hamstring injury with Rory Stewart coming on.  The second half was frenetic with few chances.  Rees Smith was put through with a great ball by Nick Reid but pulled his effort wide.

Dunbar then scored a second with twenty minutes left after a loose pass from James Hair.  We pushed three strikers on but Dunbar soaked up the pressure well.  Manager Alex Cunningham was disappointed “to win in Junior football you need to have desire, we just didnt have enough today”.

Team: Paterek, Hair (Shanks 74), McKibben, Ewart, Livingston (Stewart 45), Bannon, Reid (Hogg 60), Waddell, Roberts, Perry

The Amateurs scored a resounding 3 – 0 win over Tynecastle with goals from Malin, Brown abd Clark, back after being out for 6 months.
