Soaked Spartans continue in King CupThe Seniors progressed face Whitehill away in the third round of the King Cup win a convincing 4-0 victory in a drenched Ainslie Park game.Craig McGarrie, Chris Smith, Stewart Fowlie and Johnny Seeley all came into the starting line up with several usual starters rested for the game. David Etale also found himself a place on the bench following his return from mitilary manoeuvres in South America. The rain poured for the entire 90 minutes however we still managed to play some impressive football at times. After a scare from an Ormiston corner which hit of the post in the 3rd minutes we took contorl of the game and it only took 9 minutes for us to openthe scoring when Dean Hoskins curled a low freekick past the Ormiston keeper from the edge of the box. Gavin Malin made it 2 in the 20th minute with a cooly place shot from the edge of the box. Malin, King and Henretty all had chances to increase the leader further and it was no surprise when Omar Kader fired home to make it 3 in the 42nd minute. Donal’s initial strike was saved by the visitor’s keeper however the ball bounced away and stuck on the wet pitch for Omar to tap it over the line. Into the second half and it took just 3 miuntes to make it 4-0. Again Donal had a shot saved by the busy Ormiston keeper, this time the ball landing at the feet of Malin at the edge of the box to fire into an open goal. Chris Townsley, Danny O’Donnell and David Etale all made appearances in the second half and we had several chances to score however the Ormiston keeper made several good stops to ensure the 4-0 scoreline would be the same at full time. Team: McGarrie, Fowlie, Hoskins (O’Donnell), Seeley, Sivewright (Townsley), Malin, King (Etale), Manson, Henretty, Smith, Kader. |
