Management thoughts on our win against PrestonMike says –“It was like Glasgow University all over again. Do the business in the first half hour then coast home. It sounds controlled and professional and maybe that’s what our lot were smugly sitting there thinking as I gave them a piece of my minds after the final whistle yesterday. All I know is I woke up today with that feeling I get the morning after a defeat. To the players credit that doesn’t happen too often but to say the second half yesterday was disappointing is an under statement. Stevie was telling me after the game that it’s the first time in 10 games Preston have won a 45 minute period. That’s 1 out of 20 “half’s” and we were at the receiving end. “Hey, Ho what does that matter” our lot will say “we got the 3 points”. What an important 3 points it was and what a good first half performance we put in. My first paragraph may sound like a grumpy old man but if you set standards then slip way below them you are only letting yourself down. I know for a fact there was an SPL representative at our game yesterday watching one of our players and what a good first half he had. For his sake I hope the gentleman in question left at the interval. Another 4 goals and another 4 goal scorers which is pleasing and Ross Archibald has hit 10 for the first time as a Spartan – well done Rosco. Before the game I’d actually chastised Jack Beesley and Omar Kader for the lack of open play goals from our wide players recently and reminded Keith McLeod he hadn’t scored for a couple of games. Well done to two of them and keep trying Omar. Omar is actually up from London for a couple of weeks and is available for our next 2 midweek games. David Etale finally got voted out of the jungle and will be stripped and hopefully get on this Wednesday. Scott Livingstone is back available for selection and both Chris Smith and Jordon Finnie are pushing for a start. We are also hoping Jonathan Seeley is able to play against Ormiston as we freshen things up before another couple of very important league games. More of that later in the week.” Mike- |
