Seniors win easily but Juniors go down

Posted on Saturday, November 13th, 2010

The Seniors cruised to a quarter final place in the South Regional Cup with a 5 – 0 win over Ormiston.  The Juniors lost 6 – 0 to Linlithgow Rose, although the scoreline flattered the home side they were well on top.

A few changes in the Seniors starting line up included David Etale returning to the starting XI for the first time in two months.  After Keith McLeod missed from close range Alex King opened the scoring with a powerful left foot drive from an angle.  Ormiston played some good football and had a couple of half chances before the 44th minute when the second came, a 25 yard effort from Keith which eluded the Ormiston ‘keeper.

David Etale set up Keith for his second ealy in the second half.  We dominated the remainder of the half with Donal Henretty and Ross Arhcibald missing good opportunities.  The substitutes brought us to life as the game petered out and Gavin Malin notched a brace in the last three minutes – firstly from the spot when Omar Kader was brought down and then when he drove home a Jack Beesley pass.  An Ormiston defender saw red for the foul which gave away the spot kick.  The Malt and Hops man of the match going to Alex King for his driving play from midfield in the first half.
