Another 3 wins

The Seniors won 2 – 0 and the Juniors 4 – 0 in their two cup ties and the Amateurs won 3 – 1 in their league fixture.
One change for the Seniors down against the Vale of Leithen with David Etale coming in for the injured Jack Beasley. Jordan Finnie and Andrew Sinclair from the 19s both on the bench given our injury list.
Up the hill first half we played very well and might have been more than one ahead. Early on David Etale hit the post from close range and Chris Townsley put a couple of headers off target as we played with pace and power. The opening goal came just before the half time whistle when a Dean Hoskins corner was only partially cleared and in the melee Robbie Manson forced the ball opver the line with the aid of a couple of deflections. The Vale played with a second striker in the second half which opened the game up. It was a hard fought encounter with both teams passing the ball well on an excellent surface. The second came when Gavin Malin robbed the ball from Vale in midfield and burst forward squaring it for David to drive home his first of the season with his right foot from eight yards. Vale created a couple of dangerous set pieces but we looked more likely to score on the break. 17 year old Jordan came on for his debut with ten minutes to go and showed good composure and some great touches. The Malt and Hops man of the match went to Gavin who worked tirelessly in midfield and looked dangerous breaking forward. Robbie ran him very close and may have sneaked it but a late booking cost him. Team: Flockhart, O’Donnell, Hoskins, Sivewright, Townsley, Kader, Manson, Malin (Finnie 80), Mcleod, Etale (Smith 70), Henretty (Fowlie 72) Subs not used: Sinclair, McGarrie

The Juniors beat Arbroath Vics 4 – 0 in the first round of the East of Scotland Cup with goals from Mark Cowan 2, Kenny Young and Mark Shanks but the game was very close in the first half but a strong second half performance saw us run out clear winners in the end. A longer report to follow.
The Amateurs continued their run with a 3 – 1 win over Bridgend in the league with goals from Iain Cartwright, Geoff Aberdein and Scott Brown. The game was swapped to City Park after the heavy overnight rain on the Academy pitch.
