Wins for Seniors and Amateurs, Juniors go down

Posted on Saturday, August 28th, 2010

The Seniors had a convincing 5 – 0 win over Civil Service Strollers.  Gavin Malin opened the scoring in the fifth minute when he slotted home an Omar Kader cross.  Gavin then rattled the bar before we scored a second on the half hour mark.  A Dean Hoskins cross appeared to be headed home by Chris Townsley for his first goal for the club, but after the game his team-mates confirmed it was an own goal by Andy Raeburn.  Two goals from Keith Mcleod in the first three minutes of the second half put the game beyond Strollers, the first a header, the second from close range.  Dean drove home a fifth on the hour mark, beautifully bringing a cross ball down before cutting in on his right peg to drive the ball home.  We created a number of further chances but the Strollers ‘keeper was in top form.  The Spartans man of the match was again Omar Kader who is on fire at the moment. Team: Flockhart, Archibald, Hoskins, Sivewright, Townsley, Kader (O’Donnel 75), Malin, Manson, McLeod, Henretty (McAuley 75), Beezley (Etale 65)  Subs not used: Smith, Fowlie

The Juniors went down disappointingly 3 – 2 away to Livingston United.  A couple of errors giving United the lead and two late goals from paul Roberts were not enough.

The Amateurs beat ratho Athletic 4 – 1 in the Logan Cup, snappy braces apiece for Steven Malin and Iain Cartwright.

Finally for those who read about the game in our programme from last Tuesday our Girls Under 13 team beat Hamilton 5 – 3 this morning to reach the last 8 in the Scottish Cup.
