Seniors through after scare and Amateurs win

The Seniors scraped through 4 – 2 aet down at Gala in the Image Printers Cup while the Amateurs beat Arniston 2 – 0 with Steve Malin scoring both.

It was 0 – 0 at half time at Netherdale, we had most of the play but Gala defended well and were playing the ball well on the deck when they had the ball.  Gala then shocked us with two goals in the first ten minutes of the half, the first a well worked move, the second following a corner.

On came our subs and as Gala tired firstly Keith McLeod and then Omar Kader scored.  We continued to push but following another corner Omar had to hack the ball off our line.  In extra time we were in control, Donal Henretty scoring from close range in each period. 

The best Spartan on the day…Paul Sutherland, a sterling performance at centre half for Gala.
