Spartans match Falkirk XI

Posted on Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Spartans Seniors secured an impressive 1-1 draw with a Falkirk XI last night that included players such as Kenny Deucher, Ally Graham and Carl Finnigan. Just two days after the Ronnie Swan Tournament the team were back in action against the side just relegated from the SPL.

Falkirk took the lead in the first half. Chris Flockhart was unable to hold onto a Falkirk free kick and Carl Finnigan was alert to put the Bairns ahead. There was few clear chances with neither ‘keeper having much to do. Falkirk held on until the 85th minute when Spartans were awarded yet another penalty folowing a diving tackle inside the box from the Falkirk defence. Keith McLeod stepped up to bring us level.

The match finished in a draw and Spartans certainly deserved at least that. It is another positive result ahead of the new season which official starts for the Seniors on August 14th at home to Edinburgh City.
