Fixture update for this week

Posted on Sunday, May 9th, 2010

In todays games the Women travel to play Kilmarnock away in a league game.  the EoS 19s play Strollers away in their penultimate league game, both games start at 2.

There are two big games on tomorrow.  The Juniors play Musselburgh in the Fife and Lothians Cup quarter final at the Academy.  Coach David Cowan hopes to have Kenny Young back fit after missing yesterday and otherwise he has a full squad.  The ko is 7pm, the game goes straight to penalties if it is drawn after 90 minutes.  Admission is £5/£3, season tickets are not valid…Junior FA rules!

The Amateurs play Tollcross also tomorrow in the semi final of the Miller Cup at Peffermill.  The winner plays Granton Vale in the final.  After an up and down season we’re got a strong squad out tomorrow.

On Tuesday the EoS 19s play their last game of the season, a league game at Tynecastle.

Moving onto Wednesday.  We host the Women’s League Cup Final atthe Academy when we take on Celtic, ko 7.30pm.  Admission is £3/£1 and we’re expecting a big turn out.  Celtic put out top team Glasgow City in the semi final so may go into the game as slight favourites but coach Debbi McCulloch is hoping a big Spartans crowd and home advantage will spur on the girls.

The Juniors also play on Wednesday, away to Dunbar in the league.  We still have an outside chance of promostion but need to win the remainder of our games and hope Broxburn and Tranent drop points.  We’ve had a great season and to still be in contention is a big credit to the coaches and players.

Finally on Wednesday the Amateurs play Armadale at home in the league.

On Thursday we have another cup final to look forward to.  The biggest cup the Seniors play for is the SFA South Regional Cup and we’re looking forward to playing Gretna for the first time in our history.  The game is at Tynecastle and ko is 7.30pm.  We think admission is £5/£3, again we’re looking for a big Spartans turn out.  Gretna are bringing bus loads of supporters and we’re not expecting to be out-numbered!  The Gorgie Suite is opening at 6pm to allow both sets of fans a pre-match drink, come along early to get into mood for the game!
