Cup Semi Win

Posted on Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

We beat Edinburgh University 2 – 0 in the semi final of the League Cup tonight in a tight game.  There were few chances in the first half with defences well on top.  Donal Henretty had the best chance but he inexplicably elected to cross rather than shoot.  Donal headed wide early in the second half before we took the lead on the hour mark.  A Ross Archibald cross bounced high over Tait the Uni’ keeper and Keith Mcleod tapped the ball home.  After a great Gavin Malin run Keith scored his second only two minutes later from about ten yards.  The Uni’ came back strongly and missed a couple of good chances before the final whistle blew.  The final is on Wednesday 19th against either Tynecastle or Lothian Thistle. Team: Flockhart, O’Donnell, Fowlie, Gerrard, Sivewright, Hoskins (Kader 64), McLeod, Malin (Manson 76), Henretty, Archibald, McLeod (Vinelli 84) Subs not used: Smith, King

The Amateurs lost 1 – 0 last night in the quarter final of the Cairns Cup while the Under 14 Colts beat Bonnyrigg Rose 5 – 0 in the final of the Pilmar Smith Cup.
