Sunday scores, David update and this week’s fixtures

Posted on Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

The Womens team beat Dundee Utd 2 – 1 today with goals from Claire Crosbie and Hayley Lauder.  We were 2 – 1 ahead at half time but didn’t play well in the second half.

The Sunday Amateurs lost their last game of the season 1 – 0 to Oxgangs in the league with Phil Johnson missing from the spot when it was goal-less.

Despite making great progress David Etale won’t be making an appearance before the end of the season.  David and us had both been very optimistic but his rehab team plus his Army football manager put him through his paces on Friday in a series of tough physical tests and concluded that he needed further fitness work to be fit to play.  It was a disappointment for David in particular but he will continue to cheer on the team over the rest of the season.  We’re also looking forward to welcoming Flem and all our supporters from the 3rd Rifles along on Tuesday night for the game against Edinburgh Uni.  They came back last week after a gruelling trip and have one more week at the Barracks before going on leave.  Their return march through Edinburgh City Centre is on Saturday morning and it would be great to see a few Spartans supporters along t o support them.

The games this week are as follows:

Mon 3rd Amateurs vs Armadale a, Cairns Cup QF

Tue 4th Seniors vs Edinburgh Uni, King Cup SF at the Academy ko 7.30pm

Wed 5th Juniors vs Pumpherston away in a league game, ko 7pm

Wed 5th Womens team vs Boroughmuir at the Academy in a league game, ko 7.30pm.
