Win in close gameWe beat Edinburgh University 1 – 0 tonight in a tight encounter. The only goal came in 15 minutes and was a cracker. Robbie Manson played the ball wide to Dean Hoskins and his cross was volleyed in by Keith McLeod for his 18th goal of the season. We had the bulk of the possession in the first half but created few clear cut chances, Tait in the ‘Uni goal having to look sharp at the feet of our strikers on a couple of occasions but with not much else to do. The Uni came out with a more attacking formation in the seond half which was much more even but again neither ‘keeper had much to do. The biggest talking point of the second half was the late sending off of Kerr Dodds from the Uni for what seemed to be no more than a high boot, Stewart Fowlie doing his best to persuade the referee not to produce the red card. The Spartans man of the match was Robbie Manson who retained the ball well throughout the game Team: Flockhart, O’Donnell, Fowlie, Gerrard, Sivewright, Hoskins (Kader 65), Manson, King, Archibald, Henretty (Malin 80), McLeod Subs not used: McGarrie, Vinelli, McAuley Att 134 |
