Mike says –

“The continued cold weather means training difficulties for every East of Scotland side and we are no different despite having a field turf facility at the Academy.

When there is snow and ice about and the temperatures drop well below zero we like every other EOS, Junior or even Amateur team are left to scurry about looking for facilities indoors.

We hope to get the players indoors tomorrow and hope the weather relents later in the week giving the field turf a chance on Thursday and the Academy pitch a chance for Saturday. I am ever the optimist.

Tomorrow night Sam, Mike and myself look forward to wishing those who didn’t trap against Nitten a happy New Year as we try to get our season back on track. I spoke to Gavin Malin today and he’s heading back up from England tomorrow to be with the boys.

I also spoke to David Etale today and he’s receiving physiotherapy twice daily despite the winter conditions. He is picked up from and deposited back at his house after working hard to regain his fitness. David hopes to dispose of his crutches early next month and get himself  back walking unaided then running as we approach Spring.

Looking out my widow today that looks a long time away. David may yet have a role to play in the run-in at the end of the season and what a lift that would give everyone at the club.”
