Management thoughts on the Heriot-Watt game tomorrow

“We have three games left this month and tomorrow’s against Heriot-Watt is the most important. Sure City in the South Challenge Cup and Forfar in the Scottish are big games but our primary aim this season was to try to retain our Premier League title and that goal remains the same.

The start to our league campaign at home didn’t help our cause and that, Lothian’s challenge and Whitehill’s games in hand mean every point we can pick up is vital. We will have to be at our very best today if we want to come out on top of a team also hoping to put in a push for the title.

I took in the Heriot-Watt v Stirling University game on Wednesday and what a good game of football it was. Both teams passed the ball on the ground and both teams retained possession well as they sought an opening. I was also impressed by the instructions being relayed to the players by new coach Michael Renwick and his mid-week assistant Ross Campbell. Heriot-Watt know how to play the game and more importantly they are encouraged to play the game in the correct manner.

For our part, injuries,  suspensions and work commitments mean we are down to the bare bones tomorrow. To that end we have signed Craig McGarrie and Jorge Domingez Vinelli. Craig is a  keeper with Junior experience and Jorge is a midfield player who was on Athletico Madrid’s books at one time and originally comes from Cadiz. They both have been training with us for over a month and both could feature tomorrow as could a trialest who has also been training with us for the same period of time.

We are on a good run of form at the moment but there have been no easy games this season. Last weeks game against Strollers showed how difficult it is to grind out a win against a side in a Premier League where every side is competitive.  As I said up top we will have to be at our best and switched on from the first whistle to the last to get the win we are desperate for.”
