Looking ahead to next SaturdayNext week’s East of Scotland League game is against Heriot Watt University at Ainslie Park, KO 2.00 pm. The game is being sponsored by Mike Drabble who played for and captained both Spartans and Heriot Watt University in the 80’s.Also in attendance will be the legendary Jimmy Dunnett, who was club captain of the team that won Spartans first ever League title in 1971-72. Later, he was manager of the team that lifted the club’s second League title in1983-84, before his emigration to Canada in 1985. Jimmy is 70 this year and Darlene, his wife, is taking him on a Mediteranean cruise. He is making a short visit to Edinburgh prior to his return to Vancouver and is very keen to catch up with old Spartans friends. All former players and friends are invited to meet up with our two ‘visiting celebs’ to watch the game and/or secondly, to join them in our new clubroom after the match and into the Saturday evening when a lasagne supper and ‘refreshments’ will be available, or thirdly for both the match and for the evening get together.
