The Seniors today beat Civil Service strollers 2 – 1 in the quarter final of the Image Printers Cup.  The Juniors drew 1 – 1 with second placed Broxburn in the league.

Two changes in the Spartans line up at Ainslie park with Sean McAuley and Omar Kader coming in for Donal Henretty and Alex King.  We had most of the possession in the first half and missed a couple of chances, Dean Hoskins coming closest when he missed from four yards when he should have scored.  The second half burst into action with a Strollers goal just after the break.  Gavin malin with the best goal scored yet at Ainslie park brought us level with a 30 yard piledriver.  The winner cam midway through the half.  A great run by Sean McAuley finished with a cross to the back post which Deano popped on a plate for Dan Gerrard to knock home from a yard.  In the final minute donal henretty picked up a red card for a late tackle.  Man of the match was Ross Archibald in a tough and close encounter, Strollers looking very good in long spells. Team: Flockhart, Archibald, Fowlie (c), Sivewright, Gerrard, Malin, Manson, McAuley, McLeod (Henretty 75), Hoskins, Kader Subs not used: O’Donnell, King

Andy Gray made two changes for the Juniors game against Broxburn – in coming Nick Reid and Adam Perry.  David Paterek came to our rescue with a flying save after five minutes.  We had most of the possession but Broxburn scored after 20 minutes when their centre half hooked the ball home after we failed to clear a corner.  The first half created few chances before the half time whistle blew.  We played much better in the second half.  Nick drove straight at the ‘keeper and Michael Moffat almost dribbled round the ‘keeper before the ball was cleared.  kenny young then hit the ball over before Adam Perry equalised.  A quick Sam Scott free kick saw us break down the left hand side and Adam got the break of the ball before slotting home.  Keith Boyes did have a couple of late chances and Michael drove wide when he might have been better squaring the ball.  Interim manager Andy Gray was pleased with the performance “we showed loads of character today and should have won the game in the second half.  The spirit in the camp was superb, we need to keep this going.” Team: Paterek, Cruickshank (Hair 53), Hutchison, Sutherland, Antoni, Moffat, Scott, K Young, Bannon (Boyes 71), Reid, Perry (Cartwright 79) Subs not used: G Young, Douglas, Robertson, McLeod
