Reflections on three points from Home Park.

Mike says –

“There have been spells in games this season where we have played better than we did yesterday. In fact there have been games where we have probably played better over ninety minutes but yesterday is the first time in the league we haven’t shot ourselves in the foot by giving away at least one silly goal.

Don’t get me wrong Coldstream could have scored on several occasions but that was down to good play on their part or a very good shot from distance. For a long time the Streamers were still in the game and I see a lot of teams struggling to overcome the Home team especially down on the border.

We changed formation and personnel because of the tight park and what I’d picked up from watching Coldstream at the Pennypit. Dan was also delayed in travelling down so Sam and I altered the line up with thirty minutes to go as a precaution. The eleven who started and the three who came on showed as much effort as skill and that is all Sam and I ask for.

We now have a very small squad with only Dan, Phil and Chris not given the opportunity to kick a ball yesterday. Alex appeared to pick up a nasty ankle injury (the other ankle) and we can only hope nothing is serious.

Alex’s ankle apart it was a good days work, a great goal from David, a rare double from Robbie and three valuable points.”
