Management reflections on the Lothian game.Mike Lawson’s thoughts on yesterday“Yesterday we saw a much better performance than that against Whitehill. We were sharper to the ball, we played with more urgency but more importantly we passed the ball more accurately than the previous Saturday. There was a doubt about the game before kick off because of the heavy overnight rain which persisted to around lunch time. I think we managed to put that to the back of our minds better than the Lothian players as we were three nil up before they caught breath. Despite being three down Lothian must take credit for the way they came roaring back and they caused us all sorts of problems defensively in the second period of the first half. They were very, very unlucky not to pull at least a couple back before the break. We settled down and defended much better as a team in the second half and Sam and I have to be pleased with the way we played. We have a small but very strong pool of players and we made a couple of changes for the Lothian game. Donal and David came in with Donal grabbing a double while “Shoot on site Etale” was a real handful for the Lothian defence and helped take some of the weight off Cloudie up front. Deano, Omar and Michael all came off the bench and played well which was pleasing to see. Players can be disappointed at not starting and that can show in their performance when coming off the bench. The three lads yesterday were bright, positive and did their chances of a starting jersey no harm at all. With Danny getting a rest, and Chris waiting in the wings Sam and I have a difficult job picking the starting eleven. With Wee Eck and Kevin fighting to get fit that job will soon be even more difficult. Overall a job well done yesterday and our mind now turn to Strollers in the league on Tuesday.” |
