Spartans gain first point against Armadale

Junior: Dechmont Foklift League Cup Section 3
Spartans 1, Armadale Thistle 1
Spartans gained a hard fought point on their first home game of the season, however the draw felt like a defeat after dominating the second half. Armadale were awarded a penalty in the first half after Paul Sutherland pushed Robbie Feeney in the box. Feeney dusted himself off, then cooly slotted the ball past Paterek. The first half was a close game with Armadale having the slight edge over the home side.

Into the second half and playing down the hill, Spartans started to dominate. Adam Perry, Kenny Young and Gary Bannon all had shots at goal before second half sub, Nick Reid, grabbed the equaliser after being set up by Perry. Spartans pushed for the winner, but it wasn’t to be.

Goal scorer Feeney was later sent off for dissent but Spartans weren’t able to capitalise on the man advantage.

MotM: Sam Scott – An Excellent hard working performance in the middle. Sam never stopped battling back as well as pushing forward.

Team: Paterek, McLeod, Cartwright (Reid), Sutherland (Young), Oli, Bannon, Scott, Hair (Douglas), Perry, Young, Robertson.  Subs not used: Fleming, Rae

Attendance: 54
