Spartans Junior FC

June 20, 2009

At this afternoon’s AGM we were accepted as members of the Scottish Junior FA.  Our team which currently plays in the Central Scottish Amateur League will move to play in the East Junior League, the season will start early August.  Chairman Craig Graham was pleased “this is a big step forward for Spartans.  We are keen to keep players as they progress through our Youth section and playing in Junior football will help us do that.  The youngsters also want to stay within the club having played with us for many seasons by the time they become too old for the 19s.  We will be disappointed to move out of the Central Scottish League, it is a fantastically well run league.  Hopefully we will have a Spartans team ready to play in it again soon.”  Manager Mark Lamb is also delighted “I’m looking forward to taking the first Spartans team in Junior football.  We have just had a great season and I’m sure we can put together another strong squad wanting to play and train at some of the best facilities in the country”.  The Junior team will start the season at City Park and move to the Academy in due course.
