Looking ahead to SaturdayIt’s our last East of Scotland game at City Park this Saturday as we host the old tenants Edinburgh City. To celebrate the season come along to the Academy beforehand to catch some of the action from the Rangers or Man Utd games which ko at 12.30 and enjoy some free food to soak up the beer.To celebrate the game we’re producing an A4 bumper programme at £2 which includes loads of memories and photos…a couple of photos from the Livi game which didnt make the cut for the programme. The management and coaching staff are working very hard to focus on the game. Co-manager Mike Lawson “The biggest job Sam and I have this week is to get the players to concentrate on the job in hand which is playing 90 minutes of football against our biggest City rivals. They have to dismiss all thoughts of Dalbeattie in our final game next week and ignore the nostalgia provoking occasion this Saturday will turn out to be. We can turn our thoughts to past City Park glories over a beer in the Academy after the game and our attention to the Islecroft side at training next Tuesday. There is no pressure on City this weekend and I’m sure they will be both relaxed and committed in equal measures as they try to put a spoke in our title aspiration wheel. That is the beauty of football and we wouldn’t want it any other way. It’s also no surprise to me that City’s fortunes have turned to the better on Shaun introducing some of their exceptional Under 19 players in the final weeks of the season. For our part we will be without three of our attacking options with Cloudie, Daryl and Nicky unavailable for different reasons. We are lucky to have so many attacking options as both David and Struan were exceptional last weekend while Donal and Omar can also play through the middle. With three attackers out we will also include Chris Smith from our Under 19’s in Saturday’s squad. Sam and I are also happy that Stewart Fowlie has regained his balance and will lead the team out for the fist time in eleven games. Forget the occasion – Sam and I are looking forward to a great game of football.” |
