Pre Season Tourney

We are delighted to announce that we will hold our first pre-season tournament at the Academy on Saturday 18th/Sunday 19th July.

Secretary Jimmy Murray has used his renowned charm to entice SPL team Hamilton Accies, SFL 2 winners Raith Rovers and our old friends Blyth Spartans.

A semi final draw will be made in late June and the games will kick off at 12.15 and 3.15 on the Saturday.  The 3rd/4th place play off will ko at 12.15 on the Sunday with the final starting at 3.15.
Hamilton Accies have done very well this season and we look forward to welcoming the 1st XI squad including the SPL Young Player of the Year James McCarthy.

Raith Rovers have had a great season winning the league with the biggest crowds in SFL2.  They feature Andrew Cook who signed at the start of this season from Edinburgh University and Marvin Andrews who played for Livingston against us at City Park in 03/04.

We are delighted to also welcome Blyth Spartans to our new home.  Blyth finished in the bottom half of Conference North this season but beat two Nationwide league teams en route to playing Blackbrun Rovers in the 4th round of the FA Cup.  In a game live on Sky they only lost 1 – 0.  They have just appointed a new boss, Mick Tait who has previously managed at both Darlington and Hartlepool.

We will issue further details nearer the start of the tournament.

We have a couple of big weeks to go yet this season but this certainly gives us something to look forward to.
