Spartans Beat Peebles
Saturday, January 24th, 2009 Spartans today beat lowly Peebles 8 (Eight) – 0 today in a very one sided encounter at City Park. It took over 25 minutes for the first goal to go in due to a spirited performance by the Peebles goalkeeper. Once Kader scored the first goal however, the flood gates opened.Donal Henretty extended the lead before Keith McLeod and Henretty again ensured Spartans went into half time 4-0 up.
Second half goals from Kader, O’Donnell, Devlin and Hoskins sealed the eight nil victory infront of over 130 supporters.
Devlin, Hoskins and Kader replaced Walker, Fowlie and Malin in the starting line up as Spartans looked to turn their fortunes having lost to Easthouses Lily in the King Cup last week. It was a very strong performance by all and Lawson and Lynch will have much wanted selection issues for next weeks home game vs Selkirk.
Team: Flockhart, O’Donnell, Hoskins, Archibald, Gerrard, Manson, King (Hair), Kader, Devlin, McLeod (Preston), Henretty (Walker)
