Womens 1st XI League Cup SF Spartans 5 (Diana Barry 4, Hayley Lauder) Hibs 3…a full match report on the website…thru to the cup final at Forthbank in early November

Sat 11th October

1st XI Preston A 1 Spartans 1 (Dan Gerrard)..down at half time but a diving header from Dan to seal the points. Very scrappy throughout but had a couple of chances towards the end which might have given us all three points. Read Cameron’s podcast on the game on the website
3rd XI League Spartans 0 Blackridge 6…the 3s missing their experienced defenders ending up well beaten by the team lying second in the league

Sun 12th October

Womens 1st XI League Hibs 1 Spartans 3 (Diana Barry 2, Trisha McLaughlan) another good performance to put us top of the league. The Rick Shaw’s Womanza of the Match selected by veteran Spartan Ronnie Hamilton was Jo Hutchison

Womens 2nd XI League Spartans 5 Dunfermline 2

Under 19 Scottish Youth Cup Falkirk 6 Spartans 0…in front of a crowd of over 300 three late goals in the first half and a further three in the last six minutes as our legs tired against full time opposition . Falkirk passed the ball well on the big pitch but we worked hard and gave 100% commitment. A couple of half chances in the second half but we couldn’t quite snatch them.

News

1. Cameron is again organising the Scottish Cup supporters bus….this time for Annan on the 25th. He has asked me pass on the following message:
“Prices for the bus will again be subsidised, the cost will be £8 for adults and £6 for concessions. We plan to arrive in Annan by 2pm so we can enjoy some hospitality in the Annan social club. This is a huge game for the club and it would be fantastic to take a big crowd down there.
We have filled several seats already so please e-mail me back letting me know how many seats you need and I’ll book them for you. Please encourage all your family and friends to come and support Spartans on the day!!

2. A reminder of the Sportsmans Lunch on Sunday 2nd November….Colin Hutch is on the case this week to chase up numbers…please contact him directly or email Ross to confirm numbers. Last year was a resounding success and i am sure this year will be also.

3. Nick Reid and Keith Boyes both played for the Central Scottish Amateur select today in their 3 – 2 win over the Scottish AFL in the Inter League Trophy, Nick bagging two of the goals.

4. Training at Peffermill on Tuesday on the grass and 1st XI only on the astro on Thursday. The 2s, 3s and 19s are organising alternative Thursday sessions will the Academy opens.
