Keith Mcleod scores against Arbroath in 2004

Keith Mcleod scores against Arbroath in 2004

We’re all set for another trip to Annan tomorrow.  Our squad is exactly the same as last week with Keith McLeod benefitting from another week’s training.  Keith hasn’t featured yet this season but since he came to the club he has scored in the Scottish Cup in each season we have played in it.  Mind you he may have to settle for a place on the bench with Nicky Walker and Struan Preston leading the line well in the last couple of games.  Nicky has a great goalscoring record at Galabank from his time at Edinburgh University.  Alex King’s suspension again puts him out but Omar Kader and Gavin Malin have both benefitted from their University football to keep up their match fitness.

The ko is 3pm.

Date for ties - Saturday 29th November, 2008

Spartans Chairman Craig Graham said “Henry the Annan Chairman was saying on Saturday how much they have had to spend on Galabank to meet SFL requirements.  Maybe he will offer to forfeit the tie on Saturday because of the significant cost of getting to Elgin from Annan in the next round.  Hopefully the weather will be kinder this Saturday and we will get the game played.  Both clubs are really looking forward to it,  we do enjoy being the underdogs.  We did get the chance to watch Annan train on Saturday as they worked out on their synthetic training area, they certainly looked fit and very sharp.  In a sneaky move Henry and his committee kept our players off the training pitch with the offer of free drinks and some heavy duty steak pies in the bar.”

A wet day out in Annan with no football but 2s progress in Scottish Cup

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Thanks to everyone who made the effort to go to Annan this afternoon and to the Annan groundstaff who tried everything to get the game on.  We’ll try again next week and hopefully the Spartans Army will again turn out in numbers…the Mexicans had turned into Elvis and his band…supported by about 30 youngsters from the under 13 and under 15 squads.

Peffermill was just playable with the 2s winning 7 - 0 in the Scottish Cup against Lochgelly Utd with goals from Nick Reid (4), Adam Perry (2) and Keith Boyes.  Unfortunately the 3s lost 2 - 1 to Loanhead MW in the East of Scotland Cup.
