Important notice for Pollok fans travelling to Edinburgh
Monday, September 29th, 2008 Pollok fans intending to travel to Edinburgh for next Saturday’s Scottish Cup replay should note that the match will be played at City Park and not at Spartans new stadium at Ainslie Park.View a Google map showing the location of City Park.

Monday, September 29th, 2008 Guys,On behalf of the players and management of the First team can I thank all of those who managed to get though and support us against Pollok at Newlandsfield on Saturday. I assumed the Third team didn’t have a game from the faces I saw on the terracing and from the roar that went up when Nicky equalised it was evident that more than a few “Spartans” were in the crowd.
On the park the players didn’t let you down and they will need to do better next weekend as I’m sure Pollok are smarting from the result and will up their game. Scottish Cup days at City Park have been special in the past for two reason. The performance on the park and the support off it.
We hope to see as many of you as can make it getting behind the team this Saturday.

Sunday, September 28th, 2008 Match highlights of the first half and of the goals from yesterdays cracking Scottish Cup first round tie have been kindly made available by Pollok. To watch the first half highlights (including both goals), click the video below.Spartans and Pollok will have to do it all again this coming Saturday after a hard fought, balanced draw between the two sides. Spartans, with a point to prove against Junior opposition after last years 4-1 defeat to Linlithgow Rose, welcomed back Fowlie and Gerrard, both missing the last game vs Coldstream. Pollok, in only their 2nd year in this cup tournament were short a couple of first team players, as they looked to further prove the perceived higher standards of the Junior leagues.
Spartans started strong and Walker’s pace up front ensured the Pollok defence we alert from the start. Walker had a great chance to score the first goal, working hard to get his shot, only to see it drag past the left hand post.
On 15 minutes Pollok took the lead. A corner crossed in was only half cleared by the Spartan defence. The ball played back in and was knocked into the back of the net by Dingwall.
Spartans reacted well to going behind and immediately pushed for an equaliser. The pace of Walker and Kader causing the defence a huge amount of trouble while the midfield engine, King was pulling the strings from the centre.
In the 27th minute Kader was bundled over in the box by the Pollok defence. The referee awarded a freekick just outside the box, but after rightly consulting his assistant, confirmed the foul was in the penalty area. Penalty given!

Great Scottish Cup match
Saturday, September 27th, 2008 In a pulsating game at Newlandsfield we drew 1 - 1 with hosts Pollok. Nickty Walker scored from the spot on the hour mark after Pollok had taken the lead in the 12th minute. Both teams had a number of chances to score a winner in the seond half…both Donal Henretty and Walker hitting the woodwork for Spartans and then in th 92nd minute Daryl Devlin scooped over from the angle with only the ‘keeper to beat. The crowd was 1170 and the small band of Spartans fans were delighted with a good away performance.

The 2nd XI also won their Scottish Cup tie today, convincing 5 - 0 winners over Bluebell with goals from Adam Perry 2, Paul Sutherland, Lukazs Zuk and Danny Forbes.
Scottish Cup game at Pollock
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 The 1st XI have their final training session tomorrow before the trip through to Pollock on Saturday. Co-managers Mike Lawson and Sam Lynch have both watched our opponents and have certainly been impressed. Dan Gerrard, Kenny Young and Struan Preston are likely to be in the squad after being missing last Saturday, skipper Stewart Fowlie also made training last night and may also return.There are still a couple of spaces on the team bus and for those travelling by car/rail the following directions have been copied from the Pollock FC website.
A big crowd is expected so be early for the 3pm kick off.
How to get to Newlandsfield Park:
By Car: Newlandsfield Park is located just off Kilmarnock Road in Shawlands, Glasgow. Parking isn’t normally a problem in the streets near the ground. If you are coming from Glasgow city centre, head straight out of the city Southwards then once in Shawlands, turn right into Newlandsfield Road which is straight after Pollokshaws East station.
If coming from the M77, exit Junction 2 and follow the B762 through Pollok Country Park (back across the motorway if you’re coming from the South, otherwise a left turn at the top of the ramp). Pass under a railway bridge and at roundabout ahead take the 2nd exit into Nether Auldhouse Road. Take 3rd left into Auldhouse Road and follow to end. At end of Auldhouse Road, turn left onto Kilmarnock Road then left at the lights into Newlandsfield Road. The stadium is now visible.
By Train: Pollokshaws East station is adjacent to the park. Alternate services from Glasgow Central to Newton stop here among others, journey time is 10 minutes.

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 The 2nd XI beat Gala Fairydean 2 - 0 last night at Netherdale in a friendly before both teams play in their respective Scottish Cups on Saturday - goals scored by Nick reid and Steven MalinOut of the Image Printers Cup
Saturday, September 20th, 2008 We lost 1- 0 down at Coldstream today to a goal scored just after the hour mark. On the day we missed a few chances but so did Coldstream.We now need to focus on the Scottish Cup game next saturday against Pollock who drew 2- 2 with Arthurlie today.
The 2nd XI and 3rd XI games were postponed today.
