The 2nd XI eventually started the competitive season for the club this afternoon and won convincingly 3 – 0 against Millbank in the league. Spartans took the lead midway through the first half when Michael Moffat scored his first for the club when he slotted home when put through by Andy Mitchell. Numerous chances were missed in the first half with Nick Reid the main culprit. Ten minutes into the second half and after Moffat had missed another couple of opportunities Millbank were awarded a penalty after keeper David Paternek was adjudged to have brought down the Millbank striker. Paternek however redeemed himself with a flying save to his left. Nick Reid did then notch the second and with 15 to go Gary Bannon scored the third.
