Reflect and move on.

July 13, 2008

9.30                           I woke with a smile on my face this morning. No it was 5.20 and Irene was fast asleep. I assume as I went to bed with a smile on my face reflecting on the teams performance that’s how I woke up early this Sunday morning.

There are a lot of pluses for us to take from the first two games. The versatility of our squad - the depth of our squad - the quality of our squad.

Trying Archie at centre-back and Donal at left back were both successes.

We were without influential players in both games - Cloudie, Seel, Stewart, Dan, AK, Burnsie, Nani, Chris, David, Daryl and Deano all missed one or in Jono’s case, both games.

In both games we passed the ball very well and mostly on the ground. The parks at Stirling and Methil were in superb condition and that helped. I only hope it gives the players the confidence to move the ball about crisply when the real work begins.

I’ll change it about on Tuesday giving one or two who started both games a rest. It’ll be interesting to see how the players react to playing a University side after teams from the SPL and SFL. Do you think I’ll let them think “Billy Big Shots” thoughts before the game? Do you know me?

That’s all for Tuesday of course. Falkirk and East Fife are gone and it’s time to move on.

My boys are heading to Irene’s mum’s for the week from this afternoon so I’m away to spend the morning with them on the bikes. Well, me and Murray on bikes and Robert on his scooter. Now if I could only bump the girls for a week!!!

Finally the Spartans web police advise me what I can say and can’t. Well usually after I’ve said it I get a call or an Email directing me in future comments. Well the boys better watch what they put in their player profiles as Mark appears just to download their comments word for word.

Players fans could see them in a different light if they don’t watch what they say!!!!
