The Big Day Arrives

July 3, 2008

Early.          The adrenalin from the “dummy” presentation must have still been pumping through my veins when I sat down at my keyboard last night. I think it’s still there this morning.

I stand by everything I wrote and I do think we would be the best choice for Scottish football today. The work and effort to get the funding in place for the Academy alone puts the people behind our club way above any of the rest.

In a couple of months we’ll have a first rate facility which none of the other grounds can compare with. The pitch will be large and flat (have you been to some of the other grounds?) with top of the range grass, an irrigation system most Premier clubs don’t have and a surface players will love to play on.

The new floodlights comply with SFL regulations and a compact ground with the crowd close to the park will generate a great atmosphere.

The changing rooms are large and roomy, not built for an 11 man team generation nor converted toilets.  The club rooms will make a journey to Ainslie Park a pleasure for club officials and there’s even a 5 star balcony overlooking the play.

Then you have the team.  Of the five teams applying today we have the most consistent record over the last few years. We’ve won everything we enter more than once, other than the Scottish Cup of course, but we’ve beaten Highland League and SFL teams on the way to reaching the last 16 of that competition on two occasions.

I’ve kept my powder dry over the past few weeks and tried to be as nuetral about the proceedings as possible. Well today’s the day and I have to say what I truly feel.

Today 29 people can vote for a club with depth, vision, potential, a first rate facility and good, intelligent forward thinking people running it.

I hope they do.
